Dr. George L. Carlo

Uncomfortable truths.

The truth is not always pleasant, and if it collides with strong economic interests forceful and courageous defenders are needed. This is the story of Dr. George L. Carlo. From 1993 to 1999, the American lawyer and epidemiologist was the manager of a $28.5 million research program commissioned by the US mobile telecommunications industry. He was to study the impact of electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phones to the human health.

In the spring of 1999, his team of scientists presented alarming results – e. g. possible damage to the genome and increased risk of brain and eye tumors.

Dr. Carlo was prohibited to publish these results. But he didn’t comply. He tried to motivate representatives from the industry and the political arena to enter into an open dialog in order to bring about changes to protect the public. Unfortunately, without success.

Nonetheless, Dr. Carlo continues his mission. As uncoverer, expert for radiation damage in court, speaker, and author. His study results have been published in scientific journals and in his book “Cell Phones. Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age”. In the meantime, they have also been confirmed by other independent scientists.
